This e-module is intended for anyone who works with D/deaf service users and British Sign Language interpreters.
We will provide an understanding of working with D/deaf clients, identify the need for BSL interpreters and their role, guide you through the WITS booking process as well as provide practical guidance on how to work effectively with a BSL interpreter.
The module will cover:
- Introduction
- Communicating with people who are D/deaf or hard of hearing
- The importance of BSL
- BSL interpreter qualifications
- Requesting a BSL interpreter
- BSL translations
- The role of a BSL interpreter
- Working with BSL interpreters
The Module will take approximately 30 minutes to complete.
